We're still amazed that the Toshiba Portégé R500 (starting at $1,699) has a 12-inch LED widescreen and a full-size keyboard, yet weighs just 1.7 pounds with a thickness of just 0.77 inches (compared with the MacBook Air's 0.76-inch thickness). And to top it off, its internal 64GB SSD drive won't break like a traditional spinning hard drive if you should drop the laptop.
